influence from media
I would have to say that the reality of life has influenced me. I watch the News every morning. Each topic or story is so impacting to my existence. I feel that my perspective on life changes as I watch it as well as after. There is a large amount of violence reported each day. It makes you become more cautious and aware of your surroundings. I almost feel that I have to be less friendly to others in certain environments. I think that a lot of the killings are from people not finding joy/happiness within them. They want someone else to make them happy and that’s how they basically go insane. You can’t make a person do what you want them to. The reported killings have also made me want to be more in touch with my family instead of calling my friends all the time. I think that the older we get the more we distant ourselves from our family due to work, school, and personal decisions. I have made more time to at least text them. It influences me to cherish the time I have in life and the moments I share with others. I try to work harder by focusing more and more on my major. I noticed that time is only moving and we can’t wait till tomorrow to work harder or make a change. We must do it today. As I watch the News, I try to learn from their mistakes. I try to understand a person before judging them; we all have been raised differently so our outlook and decisions in life are also different. I know this sounds typical, but before I came to college I didn’t watch the News as much. My dad would always tell me to watch it and finally I got used to watching it. I am currently doing a dance performance about domestic violence and the hurtful memories that we hold within. I try to think about every story that I hear on the News to aid to the emotion I must possess during the dance. This world is crazy and I have to use these stories to stabilize myself to not become a story.
