influence from media
I would have to say that the reality of life has influenced me. I watch the News every morning. Each topic or story is so impacting to my existence. I feel that my perspective on life changes as I watch it as well as after. There is a large amount of violence reported each day. It makes you become more cautious and aware of your surroundings. I almost feel that I have to be less friendly to others in certain environments. I think that a lot of the killings are from people not finding joy/happiness within them. They want someone else to make them happy and that’s how they basically go insane. You can’t make a person do what you want them to. The reported killings have also made me want to be more in touch with my family instead of calling my friends all the time. I think that the older we get the more we distant ourselves from our family due to work, school, and personal decisions. I have made more time to at least text them. It influences me to cherish the time I have in life and the moments I share with others. I try to work harder by focusing more and more on my major. I noticed that time is only moving and we can’t wait till tomorrow to work harder or make a change. We must do it today. As I watch the News, I try to learn from their mistakes. I try to understand a person before judging them; we all have been raised differently so our outlook and decisions in life are also different. I know this sounds typical, but before I came to college I didn’t watch the News as much. My dad would always tell me to watch it and finally I got used to watching it. I am currently doing a dance performance about domestic violence and the hurtful memories that we hold within. I try to think about every story that I hear on the News to aid to the emotion I must possess during the dance. This world is crazy and I have to use these stories to stabilize myself to not become a story.

Success Success Success. . . . .
. . . Well I looked in the dictionary and I saw that success meant favorable outcome as well as gaining of wealth and fame. I feel that success doesn’t have anything to do with a person being famous. A person can be famous for being outrageous and wild but that doesn’t make you successful. I believe that when you have accomplished a goal or have gain knowledge you have become successful. I honestly don’t think that the amount of money you make makes you successful. Others may inherit money but haven’t done anything constructive with their lives. I think that the amount of people you have influenced makes you successful. Influencing someone or changing their mindset is an unspeakable honor.
Paula Abdul is very successful to me. She started as a Lakers Girl and has ventured off into so many horizons. I am a dance major so I feel that anyone who starts dancing and teaches someone how to dance is an inspiration. The gift of giving is the best gift of all. She has taught many celebrities how to dance and started them off on the right foot in their career. She also has a jewelry line, fashion line and was previously a performer. I want to eventually do all those things. I like that she isn’t just focused on one thing but she has gone into other desires. A successful person can’t be one minded or just focus on one major. You have to be open to new things. My dad is very successful to me. He has accomplished almost every goal that he has created in life. He is a chief engineer at CLTV, he teaches at two colleges, is the director of audio and video at Victory Apostolic Church and has directed for many White sox games as well as Chicago Fire Soccer games. His lists of accomplishments never end. I feel that your morals and beliefs make you the person that you are so if you lose that then who are you? There are people that just do anything to be successful. I hate the term “you only live one life you matters well do anything.” I think that you only have one life to make positive decisions because those negative ones can put you in a negative place in the near future.

sports influence
I would have to say that I do think sports mimic war in a way. Only some sports mimic war with violence, like football, boxing, fencing, and other body contact sports. You basically get to hit someone and get away with. Sports are good for people to release anger without killing someone like war does. It also mimics war because sports have certain teams that they go against each year. In war you have certain allies and alliances that you fight against or with. Sports like volleyball, golf, tennis, and swimming don’t mimic war with violence. They actually mimic war in the win or lose aspect. Sports can also be negative because some players get involved in steroids, which can change the mindset and attitude of the player. It can become negative when a person always looks at life like a competition. People with competitive personalities actually annoy me, because you can never have fun with them. Sports could release never ending violence and make a person become aggressive with friends or family. But it can also be positive, because it allows the player to release their anger on the sport and not on a person directly. It also helps in school to keep a student’s grades at a certain grade point average. Sport can be very positive because it exercises our body. Exercise always leads to good health. Sports can relieve the stress or tension that we hold inside our bodies. Many people look at athletes as role model; this can help lead people to a positive outlook. Sports influence our culture, especially in Chicago with the White Sox and Cubs. It is a source of entertainment. This type of entertainment can only entertain viewers from television. In the real world direct contact with another person can lead to imprisonment. This question can be answered in many ways due to the way a person was raised. If you were raised knowing that you shouldn’t do drugs or steroids and keep the violent side of your personality in the sport, then sports can be seen as a positive influence. But if you were raised believing that you chose your own destiny and whatever happens happen, you only live one life, you will possibly venture off into the negative influences of sports.
